Elliot Crouser, M.D. Advisor, is a professor of Internal Medicine at Ohio State University College of Medicine, specializing in pulmonary and critical care medicine and is a leader in sarcoidosis research and treatment. In 25 years of supported research, his lab has contributed to the publication of more than 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts, including the first clinical practice guidelines for sarcoidosis, which were endorsed by the American Thoracic Society in 2020. Also, his Sarcoidosis Specialty Clinic was named a Center of Excellence by the World Association of Sarcoidosis in 2020.
Dr. Crouser’s education and training is as follows: Oberlin College BA; University of Toledo, M.D.; Ohio State University, Internal Medicine Internship/Residency, followed by Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship. Dr. Crouser holds two Board Certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine in both, Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care.
His current pulmonary sarcoidosis research themes are conducting translational efforts to elicit disease mechanizing, establish novel biomarkers and to investigate novel treatment therapies such as SarcoMed USA’s approach. Further, he is involved in genomic studies of granulomas to determine disease mechanisms, to identify novel therapeutic targets and continue to improve clinical practice guidelines for the diagnosis and management of sarcoidosis. Dr. Crouser has 14 Sarcoidosis and 16 Sepsis related publications.
